Northfield’s 11th Perennial Earth Day Celebration will offer exciting events for all ages throughout town the morning of April 25th, including tree plantings at the Carleton Arboretum, a trash clean up around town, tours of the Carleton’s Geothermal Energy System and Net Zero Goals, the building of an additional boulevard garden for “Free Food Help Yourself,” and more.
Our plans are to close the street on Division between 5th and 6th in front of the Armory at 11:00 am. The Bookmobile is scheduled, along with an Earth Day Morning Story Time and Art Projects for kids put on by the Northfield Public Library and the Northfield Arts Guild. Dick’s Sanitation educational trailer will be there, along with several electric vehicles. There will be a tent with local music, Riverwalk Market Fair vendors, exciting kid’s activities, and food offerings by food trucks, B & L Pizza and the VFW.
Inside the Armory, we will have our “Sustainable Action and Idea Fair” where local businesses and organizations will be sharing sustainable products and ideas with our attendees. We will then have an Earth Day Keynote speaker and break-out sessions with several different local sustainable organizations, where participants will have the opportunity to “Plug Into” Climate Action initiatives to help move the actualization of Northfield’s Climate Action Plan forward.
Our day ends with a Contra Dance in Armory Square with a local band and amazing caller for the dance.
We hope you can stop in and join us on the road to a healthy earth for the health of all!
